Copyright
The new Copyright Act 2018 is currently recognized as one of the legislations in Kiribati, when it was successfully passed for the second reading at the House of Parliament on the 21st of August, 2018. Copyright Regulations has also been successfully completed and implemented, thus, the application form is now open to the public and to all interested parties who wish to register their works.
Creators and original owner of the following can be Registered and Protected under the Copyright:
- Artistic
- Literary
- Musical
- Dramatical etc...
Main objectives of the Kiribati Copyright Act 2018:
- To govern copyright, right to control the use and distributions of protected artistic and literary works in Kiribati
- To promote the creation of literary and artistic works and encouraging productive activities through communicating to the public
- To protect the moral & economic rights of authors/creators.
Document required for Registration:
- Completed application form : (attachment application form)
- Birth Certificate (National ID Card)
- 2 Passport-size photos
- Evidence of Copyright work
- Agreement/Contract
Free Registration unless the holder request for the following;
- Certificate of registration $5.00
- Change in information in the copyright register $3.00
- Search & Extract of information in the copyright register $2.00
